The Urban Education Project
The Urban Education Project (UEP) is an alliance of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the Birmingham City Schools, other school districts in the Birmingham metropolitan area, and local and national partners. It was officially launched in the fall of 2004. Initial funding for the Project was provided by the Ronne and Donald Hess Foundation and by the Provost’s Office at UAB. Activities of the Project are further supported through a Teacher Quality Enhancement grant from the U.S. Office of Post-Secondary Education.
