InitiativesTechnology Infusion

In July 2001, the Urban Serving Universities Urban Educator Corps was awarded a Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology Catalyst Grant (PT3).

The aim of the USU/UEC PT3 initiative was to increase the capacity of USU preservice programs to prepare large numbers of future teachers in the use technology to improve student achievement.

The USU PT3 resources are focused on three interrelated goals:

Systemic Technology Planning - supporting the efforts of USU institutions in their efforts to employ information technology in teacher recruitment, preparation, and retention, as well as the communication needs of their local partnerships;
Technical Assistance Capacity - strengthening USU's capacity to provide technical assistance to participating preservice programs to support implementation of local technology plans; and
USU Virtual Curriculum - designing/developing an online learning environment to effectively extend/expand collaboration within and among the USU partnerships, including the delivery of USU's Core Curriculum.

Other Projects:

Cyberware - In order to create shared learning environment (a.k.a. The Virtual GCU Campus) we first need to identify existing resources for online learning among the partner organizations:
UEC PT3 Sites - We've built a directory of PT3 projects among the Great Cities' Universities.
Tech Showcase - These are the innovative practices that were presented by GCU partners at the Urban Educator Corps Partnership Institute in New Orleans, November 28, 2001.
