The Department of Leadership, Special Education, Foundations, and Technology (LSEFT) now offers a graduate certification program approved by the Alabama State Department of Education and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education which prepares students to function as school psychometrists.  Completion of the program leads to Alabama State certification at the Class “A” level in School Psychometry.

 

The program allows students to gain academic knowledge in a university setting and to apply this knowledge during supervised internship experiences in public schools. Students completing the program will possess a strong background in psychological and educational assessment, teacher consultation skills, and knowledge of special needs of students with exceptionalities. Other major factors impacting the student’s learning environment such as the role of multicultural, socio-economic, and ethnic factors will be examined. Students will also be able to apply this knowledge to enhance their effectiveness in public school settings as they provide assessment and consultative services to their students and colleagues.
