Education Scholarship
-
Graduate prior to
July 2008 from a high school in the Jefferson County Public School
System or from Spain
Park High School, Leeds High School, or
Hewitt-Trussville High School or any public or
private high school in Bibb, Blount, Cullman, St.
Clair, Shelby, Tuscaloosa or Walker counties.

Admission to the University
of Alabama at Birmingham as an education major.

Earn a minimum 3.0 academic
GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Earn a minimum score of 22
on the ACT or 1030 on the SAT.

Demonstrate financial need
and provide a copy of your parents' most recent Internal
Revenue Federal Tax Return reflecting you as a
dependent and your parent's taxable income.

Submit in your handwriting a
500-word essay stating why you have chosen the field of
teaching, and why you need financial assistance to
achieve your educational goals.

Include on a separate page
any additional information you feel will assist the
Scholarship Committee in evaluating your qualifications
and need for assistance in pursuing a career in the
field of Education.

Submit two letters of
recommendation from your high school teachers or
counselors.

Award available of up to 2,500.00 per year.
Renewable after first year.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE UAB
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION OFFICE OF STUDENT RECRUITMENT,
SCHOLARSHIPS, AND DEVELOPMENT FOR CONSIDERATION OF
AWARDS FOR FALL SEMESTER 2008.
