Blended Masters in
Early
Childhood/Elementary Education (P6)
You’re ready to grow to a new level as an early childhood/elementary teacher. You have your certification, and you have some teaching experience under your belt. You’ve realized, though, that in your teaching you’re encountering problems you can’t solve and questions you can’t answer. You also want to know new and better ways to help your students achieve. UAB’s Masters in Early Childhood/Elementary Education may be your next best step.
UAB’s P6 education faculty have implemented blended instruction as the delivery mode for our tradition master program. Blended Instruction (a combination of online learning & face-to-face instruction) will increase your flexibility for completing coursework around a schedule that fits you, decrease trips to campus, and ensure face-to-face quality learning that maintains strong interaction with course instructors and peers. The chief vehicle we will use for blending instruction will be Blackboard, course management software that has been in use by UAB School of Education faculty for over 5 years.
You can begin the program
any semester, and we anticipate the program to require
approximately 5 to 6 semesters to complete. Strong
technology skills are not required. The only thing that
is required, however, is resiliency. We are trying
something new. Our students need to have a
tolerance for
change and a willingness to adapt.

initial certification through either our undergraduate
or Alternative Masters program.
