Welcome to the High School Education (EHS) Program

Welcome to the UAB Department of Secondary Education web site. Our faculty is pleased to share information about our undergraduate and graduate programs.

The primary focus of our faculty is the preparation of leaders to serve all levels of education. We have developed programs that exceed state and national standards for teacher preparation programs. This program has allowed to forge partnerships across disciplines and to integrate research and practice in order to prepare outstanding new teachers.

The Secondary Education Program offers four major specialization areas: English/Communications Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and History/Social Studies Education. Within each of these, the student can choose to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.Ed.) degree certification specialization, Alternative Fifth Year Masters (M.A.Ed.) degree certification specialization, a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) degree certification specialization, Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree certification specialization, or an AA certification specialization.
