This course will teach concepts needed to be an effective Peer Educator:
Communication skills (active listening, verbal/non verbal)
Problem solving and decision making strategies when working with groups
Group facilitation techniques, presentation skills, conflict resolution
Methods for teaching sexuality concepts to a variety of audiences
Who is SHAPE? Sexual Health & Awareness Through Peer Education
SHAPE is a group of trained and knowledgeable volunteer educators interested in responding to the need for sexual health information, encouraging youth and college-aged peers to evaluate their own needs and concerns about sexuality, and communicating in an atmosphere that is safe and fun.
As a SHAPE Peer Educator you will be:
Developing and implementing seminars and other outreach events
Encouraging others to evaluate their own needs and concerns about sexual health
Communicating in an atmosphere that is safe and fun
Learning skills to help you network with others and prepare you for your career
