For the past 20 years, Dr. Gypsy Abbott has been doing research and evaluation to increase gender and race equity in math, science and technology education. She has also been extensively involved in projects addressing the needs of teachers and their students for whom English is not their first language. In addition, Dr. Abbott has been very actively involved in evaluating programs that are innovations in the field of teaching math, science and technology. She has received both state and national awards for her work. Dr. Abbott is a Professor in the School of Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
