1 Site-Based Professional Learning Communities with Online Support
Groups meet weekly at times and places determined by group members (e.g., Huntsville, Oxford, Ft. Payne, Loxley, etc.). Class meets monthly at UAB with accommodations for students who live 2+ hours away. Students submit individual and group assignments online through Blackboard. Activities for the weekly group sessions are provided on Blackboard. Each site-based group consists of 4 or 5 graduate students.
2 Summer Modules: One week in June and one day in July
At the beginning of May, summer syllabi are emailed to students. The first set of assignments is due June 2nd. Each course meets at UAB during the second or third week of June (M-F, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm). Class sessions are structured around group activities and guest speakers. At the end of July, all summer courses join for a closing session that consists of a poster exhibition in the morning and an interactive workshop in the afternoon.
