Summer Camp Counselors

 

Time: 4 weeks in July

Location: Several major cities in China

Organizers: US Chinese Culture Center in Columbia, SC, with partner schools in China

 

Basic Qualifications for Counselors: College students or college graduates, age 18-65. Healthy native English speakers without accent. You should get your own passport.

 

Benefits: 3,500-4,000 RMB Yuan stipend. Free furnished apartment or hotel room (double occupancy for teachers) or free stay with Chinese host family, and free meals at the camp and with the host family. Free sightseeing/tours in the camp city during your pre-camp training. Free Chinese classes. USCCC books your group round-trip flights to China.

 

Credit Hours: 3 credit hours for summer internship, independent study, international study, study abroad, politics, governments, Chinese language, education, teaching, social work, Asian study, etc. 3 more credit hours for TESL Training on USC Columbia campus.

 

TESL Training: 30 hours’ training in Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and Customs, Chinese Educational Systems, Teaching Methods for teaching English as Second Language, and a 30-min teaching trial for TESL Certificate. 3 credit hours.

 

Camp Students/Campers: Elementary, Middle and High School students from both Chinese and American schools. Teachers and parents are welcome to go with their students as paid Camp Counselors.
