AAUW (Amer Assn of University Women) International Fellowships

For women who are not U.S. citizens and who intend to return to their home country after completing graduate studies. $18K for master’s degree study, $20K for doctoral studies. 

 

ASPH (Association of Schools of Public Health) Internships and Fellowships

 

AAHE Marion B. Pollock Fellowship

Annual fellowship for full-time graduate study in school health education.

          

CDC (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) Training and Fellowship Programs

Participants work at CDC facilities in different program areas and state or local health departments to develop technical expertise and skills.  Tel. 770-488-8540.

  

Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society Fellows Program (CPCS)

A unique fellowship opportunity providing three months of leadership training through applied research and professional mentorships to young scholar/practitioners aged 35 or younger working in the NGO sector. The topic for the 2005 program is community foundations. For the first time, the program will include a U.S. Diversity Fellowship for young scholars or practitioners from communities of color under-represented in the U.S. grantmaking sector. Applicants should have a strong interest in building capacity and increasing the diversity of the nonprofit sector in the US.

   

Fulbright Memorial Teacher Fund Program (FMF)

The Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund (JFMF) Teacher Program, sponsored by the Government of Japan, provides American primary and secondary school teachers and administrators with fully-funded short-term study tours of Japan.

 

Fall and Spring Internships at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP)

IHEP, a non-profit, non-partisan research and policy organization in Washington, DC, sponsors a year-round internship program for undergrads and graduate students with an interest in public policy research.  Each internship is for a full academic semester and includes a stipend of $1,500. Interns are considered members of the regular staff, providing research assistance and administrative support. Previous interns have performed library- and Internet-based research, conducted interviews on higher education policy issues, offered data analysis and other specialized assistance, and provided writing assistance on small papers and larger policy reports. Josephine de Karman Undergraduate Scholarships and Final Year of PhD Dissertation Scholarships

The Josephine De Kármán Fellowship Trust was established in 1954 by the late Dr. Theodore von Kármán, world renowned aeronautics expert and teacher and first director of the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, in memory of his sister, Josephine, who passed away in 1951.  The purpose of this Fellowship program is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect Professor von Kármán's high standards.

  

Minority Access Internship Program

Paid internship and travel expenses to Washington, D.C. for undergrad and graduate students interested in careers in the federal government and other participating entities.  Stipends range from $400-500/week.

 

National Center for Policy Research for Women & Families (CPR) Internships and Fellowships

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall paid internships for undergrad, grad students, or recent graduates to work part-time for 3 months or more on public policy issues to improve health of women and their families.  For more info, Email info@center4policy.org, tel. 202-223-4000.

 

National Council of Women’s Organizations (NCWO) Bella Abzug Advocacy Fellowship

Paid fellowship for young feminist activist in NYC who has matriculated from undergraduate or graduate program.

 

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)

Every year, NEH offers K-12 teachers the chance to participate in a series of Summer Seminars and Institutes on various topics in the humanities. Participants receive stipends of $2,800-$3,700 to cover full travel costs, living expenses, books, and other research materials. Past programs have taught topics in literature, music, history, art, and cultural studies in locations like Vienna, London, NYC, Washington, Ireland, and Italy. Full-time teachers in K-12 schools, librarians, and administrators are eligible to apply.

 

National Foundation for Women Legislators Internship Opportunities

NSF Fellowships

The National Science Foundation offers 1,000 renewable awards of $30K per year, plus $10,500 education costs per year for 1-3 years of science study. Selection criteria include intellectual merit and impact of proposed research. Also see http://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/grfp

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

30 awards paying half of tuition and fees plus $20K for 1-2 years. Support for new American citizens under 30 years of age. Open to non-U.S. citizens.

 

Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowships

Anticipated 30 fellowships of $20,000 will be awarded to doctoral students for research on the history, theory, or practice of education. Graduate study may be in any academic discipline. Submit applications electronically at webpage by November 1.  The Foundation's other research programs provide funding for investigations that promise to yield new knowledge about education in the U.S. or abroad. Each of the Foundation's two research programs, the Major Grants and Small Grants, supports researchers from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields.
