EDT Course Description
EDT 300 Introduction to Teaching with Technology
This course is designed to introduce students to knowledge and skills of various information technology used in educational contexts. Strong emphases are given to the use of these technologies to impact PreK-12 student learning.
EDT 610. Computer-Based Instructional Technologies
This first course in a series of three is to familiarize classroom teachers with computer-based instruction technologies as applied to educational contexts. Students are introduced to the historical and social context within which computer technologies are developed, the knowledge of computer hardware and software and strategies to integrate computers into the curriculum.
EDT 620. Current and Emerging Instructional Technologies
This second
course in a three-course series designed to provide inservice teachers
with knowledge and skills in the use of advanced computing and other new
cutting-edge technologies. Students will have opportunities to work on
digital video editing, desktop publishing (adobe photoshop), animation
(flash), and advanced web page design (dreamweaver). Prerequisite: EDT
610.
EDT 630. Curriculum Integration of Technology
This is the third course in a three-course series. This course is designed to provide inservice teachers with in-depth knowledge about educational computing. Students will explore various issues involving the computer use in K-12 schools and develop conceptual frameworks regarding educational computing. Prerequisites: EDT 610 and 620.
